CAMBRIDGE, Mass Sophomore Charles Gauthier of Quebec City scored the
game-winner with three minutes remaining as McGill overcame a 2-0 deficit and
defeated Harvard 4-3 in mens hockey at the Bright Hockey Center on Friday.
It was McGills first victory over the Crimson since a 2-1 decision at
Harvard on Dec. 28, 1954.
Netminder Mathieu Poitras of Gatineau, Que., sparkled with 35 saves for the
win as the Redmen were outshot 38-17.
Trailing 2-0 after one period, McGill rallied with second-period goals by Benoit
Martin at 17:00 and Lucas Madill at 18:25.
Doug Orr of Newmarket, Ont., gave the Redmen a 3-2 lead with a power play marker
at 3:08 of the final period but Harvards John Pelle tied with his second
goal at 12:37.
The Crimson finished 1-for-10 on the power play, while McGill was 1-for-8.
McGill plays at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., Saturday, while Harvard
will open its season on Oct. 29 when it hosts Dartmouth at 7 p.m.
